CoinMarketCap maintains a token-unlock calendar showing vesting schedules and upcoming release times for major projects. Its current calendar lists unlock events by date, giving traders a way to see when previously locked supply may enter circulation.
An unlock is not automatically bearish. Some releases are expected, some go to long-term contributors, and some are already hedged or priced in. The trading mistake is ignoring the event entirely and then treating a liquidity shock as a surprise.
A useful process is to check the unlock size relative to circulating supply, daily trading volume, market-cap rank, recent funding rates if perpetuals are active, and whether the token has nearby catalysts. A small unlock in a liquid token may matter less than a modest unlock in a thin order book.
Risk management should happen before the timestamp. Reduce leverage, avoid oversized stop distances, check exchange depth, and be careful with market orders around the event window. For longer-term holders, the question is whether unlocks improve network decentralization or create persistent distribution pressure.
