Funding-rate checks make exchange comparison more practical

Binance and Bybit both explain funding as a perp-market alignment tool, but traders should compare visibility, timing and product rules before opening leverage.

Exchange comparisons often focus on fees and app design, but perpetual futures traders need a narrower question: how easy is it to see the current funding cost before entering the trade? Binance Academy explains the interest and premium components behind funding rates, while Bybit’s help page says traders can check the rate on the futures trading page and that it can update toward the next funding timestamp.

That makes the comparison more practical than brand ranking. A scalper cares whether the funding timestamp falls inside the expected holding period. A swing trader cares whether the rate has been persistently positive or negative. A hedger cares whether the funding payment offsets or worsens basis risk between spot and futures.

A sensible checklist before choosing a venue is to check supported contracts, funding interval, current rate, recent rate history, margin mode, liquidation rules and order tools. The cheapest headline fee can still be expensive if funding, spread and forced-exit rules are ignored.

Risk notice: Perpetual futures are leveraged products and funding payments can change quickly. Compare rules directly on the exchange before trading.
