
Decentralized trading gives users wallet control, but that control also shifts more responsibility to the trader. Unlike a centralized exchange order book, a DEX swap may execute against liquidity pools, bridges or aggregators, so the exit plan should be designed before the wallet signs the first transaction.
The first checkpoint is slippage. A tight setting may cause a swap to fail during volatility, while a wide setting may accept a poor fill. The second checkpoint is execution protection. OKX describes stop-loss usage and DEX risk tools, but traders should understand that some DeFi stop systems rely on automation services or external execution rather than a native exchange matching engine.
A sensible workflow is to confirm the token contract, check pool depth, review the estimated route, set a slippage limit, keep enough native-chain token for gas, and decide where the exit should happen if price moves against the trade. For volatile tokens, the exit plan may need to be smaller position size rather than a wider slippage tolerance.
The main lesson is that DEX risk control is not only a button. It is a sequence: wallet hygiene, route review, gas planning, slippage discipline and a prewritten loss limit.
