Account security is not a separate task from trading. If an exchange account can withdraw to any address after a stolen password, the best trading plan can still fail. Binance’s current security materials emphasize layered controls: strong passwords, 2FA or passkeys, anti-phishing codes, device review, address management and withdrawal limits.
Start with login protection. Use a unique password stored in a password manager, then enable passkeys or an authenticator app instead of relying only on SMS. Review the device list inside the app and remove old phones, browsers or IP locations you do not recognize. If your email account is weak, fix that first, because exchange password resets and withdrawal confirmations often pass through email.
Next, turn on the anti-phishing code. Binance says the code appears in genuine Binance emails and SMS messages, helping users spot phishing and smishing attempts. Choose a code that is easy for you to recognize but not easy for someone else to guess, and change it if you think it has leaked.
For withdrawal risk, use address management and a whitelist. Binance’s withdrawal-setting guide says the whitelist restricts withdrawals to approved addresses, and a whitelist withdrawal limit can suspend withdrawals to newly added addresses for a selected period. This is useful because many account-takeover losses happen when an attacker adds a fresh wallet and immediately moves funds out.
A practical pre-withdrawal routine is: confirm the URL manually, check that the anti-phishing code appears, verify the address and network, send a small test transaction when using a new address, and avoid approving withdrawals while under pressure from messages or phone calls. Security controls are strongest when they slow you down at exactly the moment a scammer wants speed.
Risk notice: platform settings, availability and rules vary by jurisdiction and account status. This guide is general education, not official customer support or investment advice. Always confirm steps inside the official app or support center before moving funds.
